AD8307 is a multistage logarithmic amplifier with a dynamic range of 92 dB (-75 dBm + 17 edBm) and a frequency of less than 500 MHz. Low power consumption, 3 V power consumption is only 225 mW. AD8307 is the first logarithmic amplifier. It is a 500MHz complete single-chip demodulation logarithmic amplifier that uses progressive compression (continuous detection) technology. It can provide 92dB (± 3dB rule consistency) and 88dB at frequencies up to 100MHz. ± 1dB tight error limit) dynamic range. The CMOS-compatible fast execution control pin can disable the standby current of the AD8307 to 150μA. The dynamic range extends from approximately -75 dBm (where dBm refers to a 50Ω source, ie the amplitude of the sine wave is approximately 50. ± 56μV) to + 17dBm (sinusoidal amplitude ± 2.2V). A simple input matching network can reduce this range to -88dBm to + 3dBm. There is no minimum frequency limit for AD8307, and the minimum audio frequency can reach 20Hz or lower. Can be used for transmitter power measurement, receiver strength measurement, transmitter antenna power measurement, signal level to decibel conversion, etc.
Precautions for using the module
(1) The maximum input power of the detector module is + 17dBm, and the dynamic range is 92dB. There are actual measurements to see that nonlinearities begin to appear when they exceed -10dBm.
(2) There is no reverse connection of the module, and there is no current limiting protection; when using the module, be careful not to reverse the connection, otherwise it will easily damage the chip or module.
(3) The module is a low-power module, and the power supply does not exceed 5.5V.
(4) Since the module is a high-precision device, in order to avoid unnecessary interference, it is recommended to use a linear power supply.
(5) It is recommended to use the SMA interface for the input signal. Poor contact or poor quality wires may cause signal attenuation or excessive noise, making the measurement inaccurate.
(6) The response and dynamic range of the detector module at different frequencies will be different, and there are differences between different modules, which is normal and not a problem of the module
Frequently asked questions
Q: Is there no response when measuring pulse power? The output is a straight line.
A: The default function of the module is power detection. It cannot detect pulse or instantaneous power. You need to change the C4 capacitor to a small capacitor value to detect pulse and instantaneous power. Generally, the higher the instantaneous requirements, the C4 capacitor can be removed.
Q: I bought two modules. Is the output voltage different under the same test condition? Is it normal?
A: There are individual differences between the modules. The actual measured details are typical data, and the specific parameters have been measured.
Q: What is the use of the matching network entered?
A: The AD8307 is compatible with a detection frequency of 500MHz. The input impedance required at different frequencies is different. The default parameters are compatible with most frequencies.
